I’m going to Disneyland in southern california tonight and I was wondering if there are any discounts for local residents on just single day tickets, or if there is a way to get in cheaper if you show up at around 6pm? Also if anyone can tell what rides close early and all that. I’m going pretty late and I don’t want to show up at 6pm and realize that I spent $70 to only see the fireworks because the rides close at 8pm.

Sorry, no discounts. What a waste of money to show up at 6. California Adventure closes at 6. Those are some pretty expensive fireworks.
Local residents do not receive discounts on tickets at Disneyland, apart from the lowest level of Annual Pass (which also has the most blocked-out dates). There is also no evening entry ticket available. Even the one-hour Shopping Pass has been discontinued.
The only attractions that close early are the Columbia, rafts to Tom Sawyer’s Island, and the Mark Twain. All of those attractions sail the Rivers of America which is used nightly for the show Fantasmic. Oh, and the newly opened Sleeping Beauty Castle walkthrough closes early because fireworks are launched from the Castle for the evening show.
If you will just be there for the fireworks, here’s a free way to do it:
Park in the Downtown Disney parking lot. The first couple hours are free. Then walk towards the big-ol parking structure, and take the escalator to the top floor. Walk across to the far side of the parking lot roof. When the fireworks begin, you have a great view (albeit a sideways one), and this is the only place outside the park that you can see the show AND hear the music, though it will not be synced as the music takes a few seconds to get there from the speakers inside Disneyland.
Bingo, you just saved $70!
