Hi,
If i have a ticket for California adventure that is of course unexpired and not used, can I upgrade it to a the disneyland ticket and pay the difference>?

There is no ticket that is just for California Adventure Park only. There is a single park ticket, which you should be able to upgrade to a park hopper if it hasn’t been used. That is, if it’s not a “comp” ticket. You need to make sure that it has a price on it. Otherwise, you won’t be able to do anything with it, as comps cannot be exchanged.
If you have a 2-fer ticket, and the Disneyland day has already been used, then you’re stuck. It’s only good for California Adventure, and it cannot be exchanged.
